Attachment-Focused EMDR

Attachment-Focused EMDR is a specialized approach to trauma therapy that helps people heal painful experiences that continue to affect their relationships, self-worth, and sense of safety. These wounds may come from betrayal, abandonment, childhood experiences, neglect, emotional disconnection, or other relational injuries.

Many people enter therapy knowing they are no longer in the original painful situation, yet their body and emotions still respond as if the threat is happening now. You may notice this through anxiety, shutdown, people-pleasing, difficulty trusting, fear of rejection, or repeating patterns in close relationships.

Attachment-Focused EMDR gently helps the brain and nervous system reprocess these painful experiences so they no longer hold the same emotional charge. This work is paced carefully, with attention to grounding, emotional regulation, and creating a sense of safety before moving into deeper processing.

Rather than simply revisiting the past, Attachment-Focused EMDR helps you understand how past experiences have shaped your present-day responses. As healing unfolds, many clients begin to feel more settled, more compassionate toward themselves, and more able to engage in relationships from a place of clarity rather than fear.

This approach may be especially helpful for betrayal trauma, childhood wounds, shame, abandonment, attachment injuries, and recurring relationship patterns. The goal is to help you feel more grounded in the present, more secure within yourself, and more open to healthy connection.
