As a family systems therapist with an interest in couples reconciliation therapy and healing relational trauma from infidelity, I am passionate about walking beside you to work through the pain and confusion of your life situation. Intimate betrayal is one of the most devastating and disorienting events that can happen to a relationship. The betrayed partner is left questioning fundamental beliefs and wrestling with the very existence of truth, love and relationship history.
I incorporate the Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model from the Association of Partners of Sex Addiction Trauma Specialists (APSATS) into my work with hurting partners. I strive for balance as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. In addition, I bring a trauma informed mindset and use the Attachment Theory lens to promote a non-shaming growth orientation.
I also work with couples who are simply looking for improved intimacy, healing of past emotional wounds and resentments, or enhancing communication skills. I use training from the Gottman Method Sound House Theory and Emotion Focused Therapy as well as doing a compassionate inquiry of attachment styles and family of origin automatic patterning so we can move the relationship into the hear and now. Striving for aware co-creators in secure support, love and growth.
A sudden revaluation of secretive impactful information can reap havoc on the blindsided partner. Partners are often left wrestling with the very meaning of their lives, and a million "why's".
The journey begins to reclaim your narrative. Move from a victim identity to a healing identity. I have specialized training in the APSATS multidimensional partner trauma model which takes a trauma informed stance for partners.
As a CSAT Candidate I also work with individuals recovering from sexual compulsivity, or infidelity and promote healing from a non shaming lens.
Trust is a bedrock foundation of marriage, without it, both partners will struggle. Once you make the decision to do couples work, we will start the growth towards wise trust. Wise trust is earned slowly while learning to express compassion and sustained efforts to build empathy.
We'll take a deep dive into each partners attachment history, identify key drivers of pain, work on communication and Sound House work from the Gottman Method, uncover relationship patterns that need to be changed, and build strong bonds that will stand the test of time.
